Enterprise wide information security monitoring programme to assist TAS and clients secure critical data centre and information

SYDNEY, 4 December 2012 – Pure Hacking, one of Australia’s leading specialist information security consultancies, today announced its selection as information security provider for TAS Managed Services (TAS) data centre and client base. The alliance will see Pure Hacking implement an internal and external Vulnerability Management data security solution to enable TAS to increase the protection of its highly critical customer data and meet legislative and regulatory compliance requirements.

TAS is one of Australia’s leading managed services providers hosting critical applications such as core banking systems, ERP, collaboration platforms, websites and unified communications for clients where service performance is critical.

Pure Hacking will be monitoring both the internal and external vulnerability requirements for TAS. From an internal perimeter infrastructure perspective it will be configuring the vulnerability scanning solution to review and assess IP address ranges to meet both Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance and IT audit requirements. The PCI DSS benchmark is mandatory for TAS with its role in the storage, processing and transmitting of cardholder data for a range of Australian financial services organisations including banks and credit unions.

Pure Hacking’s Security Incident and Event Management Prediction tools and processes will be implemented as a virtual appliance for TAS, within the TAS virtual infrastructure.

Additionally Pure Hacking’s information security expertise and solutions will be available to TAS’ clients looking to improve their security posture through information security protection and predictive services.

For TAS’ CEO, Shane Baker, the alliance with Pure Hacking directly addresses the critical issue of the role of IT security for today’s organisations. “To understand and manage the constant flow of data security threats is a unique skill, and we acknowledged it is prudent to work with a specialist in this area. Pure Hacking has the in-depth understanding of current business and technology security issues, remediation plans and recommendations.

He continued: “Our goal is to better understand and prepare for an environment where data attacks are increasing in frequency. This alliance also reassures our clients that are enquiring about the security of their data, that not only have we implemented a more rigorous security environment, we can also extend these security services to our clients also needing assistance in understanding what the potential threats are and how to manage them.”

According to Pure Hacking’s CEO, Rob McAdam, vulnerability management is key to helping profile and predict when possible security breaches are likely to occur. “From an external vulnerability perspective, monitoring infrastructure provides an enterprise with the foresight to know exactly when to act on potential security breaches and the potential damage level that can occur. This is crucial to meeting and passing IT audit requirements,” he said.
