London, UK (06 July 2012)—Tony Hayes, CGEIT, AFCHSE, CHE, FACS, FCPA, FIIA, Associate Director-General of the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services in the Queensland Government, Australia, was reinstalled as international vice president of ISACA—a global association serving 100,000 IT governance, assurance and security professionals in 180 countries—at its World Congress:  INSIGHTS 2012 conference in San Francisco, CA, USA, last week.

Founded in 1969, ISACA develops international standards for information systems auditing and control; provides education and training; and administers the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) designations. Additionally, ISACA developed COBIT, the internationally accepted framework for governance and management of enterprise IT. The latest version, COBIT 5, was released in April.

“ISACA has benefitted from Tony’s strategic viewpoint and expertise in organizational improvement and planning,” said Greg Grocholski, CISA, chief audit executive at The Dow Chemical Company, who was elected international president of ISACA. “He is a valuable contributor to the ISACA board.”

In his role in the Queensland Government, Hayes has significant responsibilities for the provision of various human services across the entire state of Queensland. He has led the implementation of many reforms and change management initiatives in his organization that have been enabled by IT investments and the sound use of IT governance practices. He has extensive experience across the Queensland public sector in a variety of senior executive positions in line and central agencies. He has specialist experience in strategic management and planning, organizational review and business process improvement, information and business strategy development, change management, and project management. He is also an adjunct professor and a member of the Business Information Systems Advisory Committee for the School of Business at the University of Queensland.

Hayes has been a member of ISACA since 2003 and has served on several ISACA committees, including the IT Governance Committee. Prior to being elected international vice president, he was a director of ISACA. Currently, he is chair of the ISACA Finance Committee, a member of ISACA’s Strategic Advisory Council and a member of the IT Governance Institute Board of Trustees. He also has served as chair of the ISACA Relations Board.

“I am looking forward to contributing to the many strategic initiatives that are planned over the next 12 months and beyond,” said Hayes. “ISACA continues to be the global thought leader for IT governance, assurance, risk and security, and I am proud to be given the opportunity to be part of the leadership team.”

In addition to Grocholski and Hayes, nine other IT professionals were named to ISACA leadership positions for the 2012-2013 term.
