The third edition of INTERPOL World was officially opened by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs on the 2nd of July and sets the stage for all stakeholders from law enforcement, government bodies, academia and the industry to co-create, engage in conversations and form beneficial collaborations for faster and more accurate responses to security challenges of the future.

INTERPOL World is an event owned by INTERPOL and is supported by Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau. The event is also facilitated with industry insights provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers Risk Services.

Co-creation Labs and INTERPOL Working Groups Spearhead Dialogues for Improvement

Technological revolution has resulted in many advantages but also presents opportunities for criminals to keep ahead of the game and explore vulnerabilities for attacks.

With the objective of addressing these challenges, the 32 Co-creation Labs will involve more than 100 expert speakers from law enforcement, industry and academia to share insights and challenges in areas such as artificial intelligence, Big Data, biotechnology, cybercrime, data fusion, deep fakes, drones, IoT, privacy, smart cities, and many others. Delegates are encouraged to participate in the dialogue in a collaborative way, with findings from each lab collated for future research and development.

Three keynote speakers will kick-start each day with a holistic approach on the security challenges and trends facing the world today, tomorrow and in the future. Richard VAN HOOIJDONK, who has a RFID chip implanted in his body, believes that as everything gets connected on the Internet, everyone will have a chip in their body in the next few years out of convenience and necessity. He will address the plausibility of rapid technological change presenting a threat to our world and how we can keep up with the fast pace of change.

Keynotes for Day 2 and 3 will be presented by Dr Ayesha KHANNA, named as one of Southeast Asia’s ground-breaking female entrepreneurs by Forbes magazine in 2018 and Co-Founder and CEO of ADDO AI, who will address the debate on ethics and privacy in a digitally enhanced society; and Dr Mary AIKEN, cyber psychologist and academic advisor of Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), who will explore how public safety and security can be maintained in our communities and societies in the future.

INTERPOL World also hosts four INTERPOL Working Groups (by invitation only) focusing on artificial intelligence, darknet and cryptocurrencies, drones and innovation. Some 250 experts from both the public and private sectors seek to forge mutually beneficial alliances leading to faster, more accurate responses to global security and public safety threats.

SAS Institute, a leader in analytics, aims to empower and inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence through their innovative software and services.

INTERPOL World collaborates with Technology Sponsor, Oneberry Technologies, to provide ten fuel cell powered security robots to roam the entrances and halls as situational surveillance and concierge to attendees. These robots are integrated with artificial intelligence and are monitored and managed from the Oneberry command centre at the event. “The deployment of the robots at INTERPOL World demonstrates how man and machine can complement and work together to enhance security operations and ensure a seamless experience at INTERPOL World and potentially in a real-world situation,” said Ken PEREIRA, CEO of Oneberry Technologies. One of the robots also acts as a co-master of ceremony for the official opening of INTERPOL World, giving us a sneak peek to the potential innovative use of robotics in future.

Other new innovations and solutions at INTERPOL World include Antihack-Me’s Anti-Data Leakage solution that will come in useful for business partners, contractors and employees, to securely utilize sensitive corporate data taken from any applications on any zero trust devices.  APEX engine by SecureAge Technology goes beyond traditional scanners by reliably identifying unseen and mutated malware types and variants.

Attendees to INTERPOL World are also invited to the INTERPOL World Theatre where more than 45 presentations by solution providers and industry practitioners cover topics such as Artificial Intelligence, biometrics, mobile forensics, phishing, and supply chain cybersecurity using blockchain.
