F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), has received the 2013 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Web Application Firewall Market Share Leadership Award demonstrating excellence in capturing the highest market share for web application firewall solutions in Asia Pacific according to the market research firm.

“This recognition is testimony to the execution of F5’s security strategy in the Asia Pacific and Japan region. Safeguarding the company’s brand and reputation from web vulnerabilities is an important senior management priority. Cyber-attacks often result in the loss or theft of intellectual property, money, sensitive corporate information, and identity. An effective security strategy encompasses not only the enterprise infrastructure but also the devices, the applications, and even the networks through which users access mobile and web applications,” said Christian Hentschel, F5 Networks, SVP, Asia Pacific and Japan Sales.

Conventional firewalls are failing in the face of increasingly complex and frequent attacks such as multi-layer DDoS attacks and SQL injection vulnerabilities. These pose serious security threats to organizations’ web applications, data, and business. F5’s flexible, ICSA-certified web application firewall and comprehensive, policy-based web application security address the threats at the application level.

In September 2013, F5 strengthened its security portfolio with the acquisition of Versafe Ltd., a provider of web anti-fraud, anti-phishing, and anti-malware solutions. This reinforces F5’s vision and commitment to provide organizations with holistic, secure access to data and applications any time, any place, and from any device. F5’s comprehensive security solutions combine DNS security and DDoS protection, network firewall, access management, and application security with intelligent traffic management.

Commenting on F5’s 2013 award-winning performance, Cathy Huang, Industry Manager, Asia Pacific ICT Practice for Frost & Sullivan said:“F5 Networks held on to its market leadership position in the Asia-Pacific Web Application Firewall market, registering tremendous year-on-year (YoY) revenue growth. The vendor’s ability to provide WAF both as a standalone solution and as an integrated offering on its BIG-IP® Application Delivery Controller platform gives customers the flexibility of choosing whichever option best suits their needs. As a result, the WAF’s value proposition greatly increases the appeal to customers. In addition, the ability to provide end-to-end application protection, advanced monitoring, and centralized management without comprising performance make F5’s WAF solutions the first choice in mind among enterprises in the Asia Pacific region.”

In the study, F5 was benchmarked against other vendors in terms of its growth strategy and implementation excellence as well as portfolio diversity, the degree of innovation in its products and technologies, market share, revenue, and revenue growth.
