CSL’s BAP ID overcomes traditional RFID card limitations to make automatic identification in large areas convenient and affordable.

Hong Kong, November 27, 2012 – Convergence Systems Limited (CSL), a global provider of both passive RFID tags, readers, and antennas and active RTLS equipment, introduces the Battery Assisted Passive (BAP) ID Card.  The BAP ID Card is a long-range identification card with an active radius of up to 25 meters (80 feet) to meet the requirements for demanding applications such as laptop asset tracking, automatic time and attendance recording, student ids, hazardous remote worker monitoring, hands-free access control, and animal tracking.

“We had pretty much given up on people monitoring with RFID badges but CSL’s BAP ID Card makes tracking not just possible but reliable,” said Carl Brown, President of SimplyRFID.com. “This is the first RFID card in any format that can be placed in your wallet, sandwiched between two PROX badges, and still read perfectly when passing through a doorway from about 10 feet.”

The BAP ID Card is available now and currently in pilot implementation by a leading US retailer to monitor valuable assets, attendance, and productivity across the thousands of locations.  System integrators, such as Harold Clampitt, President of American RFID Solutions, are utilizing the BAP ID Cards together with CSL’s CS203 Integrated Reader, to solve requirements for large area visibility and monitoring where traditional passive RFID tags failed.  The BAP ID technology offers the advantages of active RFID technology with the economics of passive tags.

”Unlike any other RFID UHF cards, CSL’s BAP ID cards held up against human body interference, orientation issues, and multiple radio frequency interference,” said Louis Sirico, RFID Technical Evangelist. “This is a game changing technology for asset tracking, people monitoring, and loyalty programs in high traffic events, large-area situations and hazardous environments.”

BAP ID cards meets the ISO 7810 identification card size with a nominal thickness of 1.8 mm that can easily fit into a pocket, billfold, purse, or worn as a badge.  CSL offers custom full-color graphics printing and hole punch options.  The CSL BAP ID Card is the only fully ISO18000-6/EPC Class 1 Gen 2 compliant identification card.  To see a demonstration, visit ISC East Conference, New York, NY, November 28-29, 2012, at SimplyRFID’s booth #674.
