This week the Longreach Group signed a Share Purchase Agreement with US headquartered ITT Exelis for the acquisition of C4i Pty Ltd.  The finalisation of this sale is subject to Longreach shareholders voting in favour of the transaction which is scheduled for the end of January 2013.

C4i has been operating in mission critical communications solutions market of defence, public safety, resources and air traffic management for over 23 years.  As an Australian established, owned and operated business, C4i has been successful in diversifying its customer base and growing its international sales as it continued to lead its market space in terms of technology.  The recently announced sale will allow C4i to move from its successful organic growth model to a force multiplier by leveraging a large, successful and complementary technology business.

“C4i’s interoperable communications solutions and engineering talent will complement Exelis’ strong and successful record of integrating, deploying and operating large scale communications networks for our air traffic management, commercial and defense customers,” said Michael R. Wilson, president of Exelis Information Systems. “This acquisition expands our portfolio of critical infrastructure solutions, builds on our presence in Australia, and brings us closer to our customers and markets of interest.”

“C4i has been working with Exelis for a number of years on a variety of projects, including Air Traffic Management solutions, Air Defence Applications, and Network on the Move projects.  C4i is excited about this transaction as it provides the financial credentials to allow C4i to pursue larger projects and access greater markets for commercialising our already successful product range.  We see this acquisition by Exelis as recognition of our world leading product, professional engineering capability and established international business development strategy” said Peter Harrison, Managing Director of C4i.

Post the sale concluding, C4i will continue its existing business plans with its current product development roadmap and sales focus in Air Traffic Management, Defence, Public Safety, and Resources sectors.
