Securitas Technology has released its 2027 Global Technology Outlook Report, outlining technology and business trends it says are reshaping electronic security, including wider use of AI, cloud-based platforms and more connected security ecosystems.

According to the company, the ninth annual report draws on perspectives from more than 16,000 end-user clients across 19 countries, along with research involving more than 575 security decision-makers, input from 26 manufacturers and contributors from Securitas Technology subject matter experts.

“Security leaders today are navigating an environment defined by accelerating change,” said Tony Byerly, Global President and CEO of Securitas Technology. “The 2027 Global Technology Outlook was created to help organizations understand what is changing, why it matters, and how to move forward with confidence. Our goal is to provide practical insight that helps security leaders make informed decisions and build more resilient organizations.”

The report argues that AI is moving from pilot projects into day-to-day security operations, with organisations using it to improve detection accuracy, reduce false alarms, streamline investigations and make security information more accessible, while maintaining governance and human oversight.

It also points to cloud platforms and remote services as increasingly central to security architecture, with organisations seeking centralised visibility, improved system resilience and the ability to manage security environments across multiple sites.

In addition, the report highlights growing interest in drones and robotics for applications such as drone detection, automated patrols and situational awareness in complex or higher-risk environments.

Another theme is “ecosystem resilience”, which the report links to the need for cybersecurity, data integrity and long-term system resilience as security systems become more connected and data-driven.

Securitas Technology said the report also found organisations are placing greater emphasis on reliability, proactive risk management, operational resilience and business continuity when making security investment decisions.

“The pace of innovation across our industry continues to accelerate,” Byerly said. “Organizations that understand how technology, operations and trust intersect will be best positioned to adapt to future challenges and opportunities.”
