The International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA) has launched DocCheck, a reference and data intelligence service intended to support document verification and authentication for its members.
According to IOTA, the service has been available to members since mid-January 2026 and provides access to a global reference database covering passports, identity documents, and banknotes. The platform includes data from more than 220 countries and territories, enabling users to review document design, analyse security features, and carry out comparisons.
Dr Mark Deakes, Chairman of IOTA, said: ‘the launch of DocCheck marks an important step in our commitment to deliver practical value to members and represents a major step forward for IOTA’s business intelligence services. Access to accurate and up-to-date reference information is essential for professionals working in document security and authentication. By making DocCheck available to members, we are strengthening our role as a trusted partner to the global optical security community.’
IOTA said DocCheck is offered at no additional cost as part of membership and sits alongside existing member services including the Security Image Register (SIR), Holography & Optical Technology News™ (HOTN), patent monitoring updates, and tender alerts.
The association also pointed to a range of 2025 activities, including its Seeing is Believing webinar, which it said attracted more than 200 participants from 48 countries, and the inaugural Excellence in Optical Technologies Awards at ODDS Warsaw.
IOTA said the Security Image Register exceeded 500 registrations in 2025, patent monitoring delivered more than 1,200 updates, and HOTN expanded its technical and market coverage.
Looking ahead, IOTA said it plans to build on the DocCheck launch in 2026 by expanding its data intelligence and knowledge-sharing capabilities, including a workshop at the Banknote Conference in Washington, DC, and participation in the Security Document Summit in Beijing.
IOTA said it will also expand its technical programme with webinars covering areas such as polycarbonate data pages, optical feature engineering, and performance optimisation.
The association said future development of DocCheck will focus on expanding data coverage, improving analytical functionality, and enhancing user experience.
