With demand from overseas for “Made in UK” security products, Bikal has opened a laboratory to assemble product for project based equipment.
London, UK. 5th November 2012. Bikal proudly announced a new location which will facilitate its demand for made in the UK products. Currently, Bikal has dealt with individual requests for such product and used test centres on an ad-hoc basis. This is no longer feasible with the amount of requests, especially from the Middle East. While components will still be sourced from manufacturers in the Far East, the location in Coventry will provide a permanent place for assembly.
Coventry is known for its car manufacturing business, with Jaguar Land Rover as the lead company in the region. The UK has taken a set back with regards to manufacturing output, however, Bikal’s assessment of Coventry was that it is the best location for cost effectiveness, regional accessibility (central UK location) and skills (local human resource). The initial plan has a resource of five engineers and admin staff but the warehouse site has space for up to thirty permanent staff as it expands. Bikal will call on its service companies, such as Securicorp, and its IT partners, such asCTC-Aspire and Emirates Network, to provide IT skill if any shortages occur. These partnerships are particularly useful in project based work. Coventry is an ideal location for a training centre. We can train groups at the facility and there is ample hotel accommodation for temporary stays. In time, these training groups can be from actual customers.
CCTV in the UK has long been established as a tool for counter terrorism. It has then moved into daily life and as the technology progressed opened up more avenues at home and abroad, through healthy and safety and marketing applications. The UK is still the leader in CCTV use, acceptance in society and sheer quantity. What is curious is how a “Made in UK” brand was never established. Bikal will attempt to create this, perhaps not through the traditional manufacturing ways as an end to end. It will be through a design, test and application based process which will integrate software, hardware and operating procedures, for a full system which will carry the British flag of origin.
