Impacts of COVID-19 on the Security Sector – Survey results

This survey of four questions is aimed to gain an insight in to how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the security sector as governments and business respond with industry shutdowns, social distancing and isolation measures.

With an initial 50 responses received and online commentary, about 30 per cent of the sector is being impacted with the loss of employment opportunities and increased employment risk. Crowd controllers and CIT officers appear to be the most impacted with the loss of hours, shifts and employment. The majority, at over 60 per cent, consisting of frontline guards and cybersecurity professionals are reporting the same or increased hours and opportunities. 70 per cent of respondents expect a low to moderate risk to their employment over the next six months.
