Welcome to the contributor guidelines of My Security Media for publication in the Asia Pacific Security Magazine (APSM).

We strongly recommend that you read the Asia Pacific Security Magazine and have a good idea of the sorts of stories we like and the style of writing we prefer. We are looking for good writing that helps us put a human face on all the issues we cover.

Whether you want to contribute hard news, investigative journalism or light-hearted pieces, the most important thing is clear writing and a compelling human perspective. Serious topics need to be tackled in such a way as to keep the reader interested.

About Us

My Security Media is a well respected Media group in the Asia Pacific region. A dedicated media provider to the security industry, we are a primary source of information and reference for security industry professionals, as well as end-users.

APSM is the leading government and corporate security publication. We publish in the Asia Pacific Region with a focus on regional, national and state security, risk and intelligence issues.

Article Submission Guide

If your submission is accepted by My Security Media, the editors will contact you as soon as possible with more information. There is no payment for stories.
*Note: While we consider each submission we cannot guarantee it will be published.

You warrant to us that you are the author and owner of the material you submit to us. We reserve the right to edit stories for length and content and authorise us to, publish, reproduce, modify and edit your material for the purpose of publication in the in hard copy, on our website or in any other medium.

Format: All material should be sent by electronic mail in Word Format, size 12 font, single spacing without footnotes or references.  Article length must be between 1000 – 1500 words with a title and by-line. *Please include word count.

Bio: Please enclose a brief biography (2-3 sentences) at the end of your article so that we can include it if we print your article. Submissions without a name, bio, author photograph or address will not be considered. Submissions using pen names cannot be used.

Deadlines: We read submissions year-round. The submission deadline for each issue is the 15th of the month for the following month (Jan 15th for the February issue, and so on), but we prefer to work two months in advance.

A signed Release and Authority Agreement must be signed with My Security Media Pty. Limited prior to publication. An Agreement can be obtained from contacting the editor directly.

  • Cyber Resilience Series

This series covers information and computer security technology, cyber and network security and information warfare trends for all perspectives.

  • 2012 & Beyond Series

We have an interest in our respective publication’s national security industry focus with a preference for encouraging a national security licensing regime and raising industry standards, professionalism, education and remuneration.

  • Women in Security Series

This series recognises women in advancing leadership roles nationally and internationally, in areas such as academia, operational, technology, critical infrastructure, industry and government.

  • Frontline Security Series

This series addresses operational issues for the perspective of frontline security officers, guards, crowd controllers and importantly, security business providers and owners. Issues covered includes licensing, regulation and safety.

  • Tech Time

Everything technology will be covered in Tech Time, including new products, application case studies, technology trends and show cases.

Tips

  • The first two or three paragraphs should grab the readers’ attention and tell them what the article is about.
  • Tell a story, do not just present facts, the article should contain a thread or argument and end in a meaningful conclusion that summarises its content.
  • Use active verbs and avoid the passive voice.
  • Keep paragraphs short.
  • Describe complex ideas concisely and with clarity.
  • Avoid needlessly complex terms; construct sentences for the average reader.
  • Avoid jargon, lists, and acronyms, unless absolutely necessary.

About the Executive Editor

Chris Cubbage is an established independent security professional with over 20 years experience. Chris has previously held positions with WA Police, Australian Crime Commission, Edith Cowan University and is a Director of Amlec House Pty. Limited and My Security Media Pty. Limited. Chris has been widely published as an independent author on security related issues.
