iLeadOur credibility lies with our;

Board of accomplished leaders across the Industry. The Board is passionate about growing leadership capability across the sector and securing the talent today for tomorrow. Due to the nature of the work we do, it is critical to our businesses and the community that the pipeline for talent to meet the challenges is cultivated on a formal, professional and sustainable way. To ensure our leadership development and tools are cutting edge, our Advisory Board members from Macquarie University and Madstonblack will support the growth of leadership capability in our mentors as well as provide best practice research and tools which will deliver Leadership enablement to all people involved in the program. Our imentors are carefully selected, formally assessed and provided with Leadership support from the Advisory Board. Our mentors are senior leaders within the sector that are passionate about their contribution to tomorrows success in the sector. Credible leaders in their field, they will feel empowered and inspired by the difference that they make to the hi-potential leaders of tomorrow.

Creating a hi-potential talent exchange program will provide the selected imentorees access to many senior and influential leaders across a number of industries in the sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to build networks at the commencement of their career that will continue to contribute to their professional careers. Our hi-potentials will not only receive out-comes based mentoring and access to best practice leadership thinking, our goal is to create opportunities for our hi-potentials to work on conceptual strategic improvement projects that will be presented in sector driven forums.

We also invite imentorees to become accredited as imentors post graduation to imentor the emerging Gen Y and X leaders for the future.

Women in ileadership is consistent in the delivery and criteria for selection. For the imentors and imentorees selected on the women in iLeadership program, additional development and support from the EOWA organisation and additional coaching for women in non-traditional workplaces will be provided.

Board Members 

Paul Maihi

Westpac – Head of Crisis and Emergency Management

Paul Maihi is the Head of Crisis & Security Management for Westpac Banking Corporation. Paul is responsible for managing the crisis & business continuity and fraud investigations activities for the Westpac Group, as well as the Groups security risk management process for Westpac in Australia and all of Westpac’s offices globally.

Paul has accumulated twenty five years experience in law enforcement and security related fields. Paul was also an Investigator for the NZ Serious Fraud Office, specialising in complex mortgage fraud investigations. He has managed Fraud and Security departments for four Banks in both New Zealand and Australia.

He has a Bachelor of Business degree in Management, Diplomas in Management, Business studies (Accountancy) and Security Risk Management as well as a Masters of Science degree in Security and Risk Management from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom he is also a Certified Fraud Examiner, completed the Certified Information Security Manager qualifications and a member of ASIS International. His research interests are in the areas of robbery and its effects on Security management and the relevant perspective(s) between security risk management and safety risk management. Paul is currently applying to undertake a PhD on the topic of Security Risk Management at Macquarie University.

Paul is the immediate past Chairman of the Banking Finance Sector Group a member of the Australasian Security Registry Board and the New South Wales Security Industry Advisory Board. Paul was also awarded the Australian Security Medal for conspicuous service to the security industry.

Paul Retter AM

Executive Director Office of Transport

Paul Retter is the Executive Director of the Office of Transport Security (OTS) at the Department of Infrastructure and Transport. In this position, Paul is responsible for OTS’ work within the framework of the National Counter-Terrorism Plan to:

 provide strategic leadership and national consistency in transport security;

 set and enforce a preventive security framework for the aviation, maritime and Oil and Gas sectors; and

 work with State and Territory governments to implement effective and consistent preventive security measures in surface transport.

Paul commenced his appointment as the Executive Director on the 18th of April 2006. Prior to joining OTS, Paul was a senior member of the Australian Defence Force, where he was responsible for developing and progressing land based military capability requirements to Government. His other Defence appointments between 2001 and 2004 included appointment as the Deputy Force Commander of the UN Peacekeeping Force in East Timor, and as Army’s Director General of Preparedness and Plans.

Tom Roche

Managing Director SNP

SNP Security is the largest privately owned security company in Australia, with over 85 years experience in protecting Australian companies.

SNP provides security officers, mobile security patrols, Grade A1 monitoring and electronic security – including security alarms, CCTV systems, access controls and security intercom systems. The seamless in-house delivery makes SNP Security Australia’s leader in integrated Security Solutions.

SNP provides aviation security, delivering security services for a number of Australian airports including Sydney and Canberra.

Tom is the fourth generation of the Roche family to head the company having assumed the leadership role at SNP in 1995. Tom is responsible for the strategic management and financial performance of the company, having led acquisitions and integration of several large security companies into SNP over the past 17 years. He promotes the family values of the company, both internally and externally, to ensure close working relationships are developed and client expectations are exceeded.

Tom is a current board member of ASIAL (Australian Security Industry Association Limited) and a current board member of CPSISC (Construction & Property Services Industry Skills Council). He has Chaired the NSW Property Services Industry Training Advisory Body (PSITAB) and was involved in the Australian Aviation Security Screening Review – Advisory Group.

Tom was employed in an Operations Management role with Securicor UK in 1992 for a period of eighteen months, He holds a Master of Management Degree, Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and Certificate IV in Risk Management.

Darlene Winston

A professional strategic change leader with over 15 years experience working with Managing Directors to transform their businesses locally and globally. Darlene is passionate about building culture and shifting paradigms to provide best in class solutions for organisations of any industry/sector. As a globally accredited change practitioner, Darlene has managed large scale, complex programs across Asia Pacific and Europe. Darlene has impressive tertiary qualifications across a number of disciplines which allows an in-depth knowledge of the challenges that businesses face today. Darlene resided in China while holding regional roles and delivery of strategy across the Pacific region and Asia. A keynote speaker on culture and leadership, Darlene works with senior management and boards to understand and overcome the challenges of leadership today and how organisations and individuals can build leadership capability. Darlene has designed and implemented leadership platforms for talent, at the country head level, while partnering with some of the world’s pre-eminent institutions such as as Harvard, Oxford, INSEAD and Wharton School of Business.

Darlene is passionate about change especially in organisations with high resistance and long term legacy. Darlene thrives on working with business stakeholders to make a difference for people and business to move forward.

Amanda Sheard

Partner – NSW

Amanda has over 20 years’ experience in senior management across the consulting, change management and marketing environments. At Madston Black she is National Client Director, responsible for developing and sustaining client relationships, coordinating coaches and facilitators to projects and working with the core team of project managers, account managers, consultants and partners. She has worked on leadership programs targeted to CEOs and their management teams and tailored one-to-one coaching programs for senior executives across a range of top 200 ASX listed companies.

Prior to working with Madston Black, Amanda has held roles of NSW State Director for the Stephenson Mansell Group and was Practice Leader with global consulting firm Hudson in its Career Management and Outplacement business. Here she managed a team of consultants, coordinators and career coaches. At Hudson Amanda led national and local rollouts of change and transition workshops and one to one leadership training and career transition projects for clients including Campbell Arnott’s, Telstra, American Express and Fosters. In 2005 she was awarded the highly prestigious Hudson Chairman’s Award in Phoenix, USA recognising her global contribution to the Consulting business.

Amanda is a former managing director of her own marketing consultancy and has widespread experience developing innovative campaigns for clients including Westpac, Nestle, Toyota, NRMA and L’Oreal. Prior to setting up her own business, Amanda worked both in the UK and locally as a public relations director and prior to this as a journalist for the print media.

Amanda’s understanding of business and her experience across a range of industries enable her to devise innovative and outcome focused training and people development solutions that meet the needs of executives and their businesses.

Amanda has a BA (Communications) degree from the University of Technology, has undertaken the Manager as Coach program at Sydney University and has undertaken Change Skills and Approaches to Change at the Australian Graduate School of Management, Sydney.

She is certified in a range of psychometric instruments including the MSCEIT – (Certified to Practice the Mayer Salovey Caruso Intelligence Test), the full Hogan Suite of Instruments and MRG’s Leadership Effectiveness 360 feedback.

Dr Barbara Griffin

Macquarie University

Dr Barbara Griffin is an organisational psychologist in the Department of Psychology at Macquarie University. Her work involves teaching, applied research, and consulting. The two central themes of her research have been the impact of individual differences in the workplace and adjustment processes related to significant workplace events and transitions. She approaches this study by examining a number of contexts (e.g. selection, development of organisational culture, older workers), which allows a better appreciation of the complex nature of work-related decisions and behaviour. Her work has been published in national and international journals and conferences and she has received over $700,000 in competitive research funding in the last five years, including two prestigious ARC Discovery Grants. She has consulted to a number of private and public sector companies, including the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, ANSTO, DSTO, RailCorp, WorkCover, NSW Ambulance, and Sydney Airport Corporation Ltd. Barbara has contributed to white papers advising on government policy, was invited to speak to the People Committee established by the Australian Taxation Commissioner, and is a foundation member of Macquarie University’s Centre for Elite Performance Expertise and Training.
