DTC_logoThe Defence Teaming Centre (DTC) and the Indigenous Defence Consortium (IDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see the two organisations working together to advance opportunities for indigenous Australian companies.

The IDC was established to support Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs to supply to defence and related sectors.

Acting DTC CEO Kerryn Smith says the partnership will provide significant benefits and opportunities for the IDC and further enhance defence industry’s capabilities and performance.

“The defence industry in this state is dynamic, highly advanced and is gearing up to take on a number of large projects such as the Offshore Patrol Vessels, Land 400, Future Frigates and Future Submarines. We are pleased to partner with the IDC and bring about a shift from policy and inclusion to a genuine position of commercial value, through creating further competitive advantage in the defence supply chain” Ms Smith says.

IDC Chief Executive Officer Adam Goodes says the DTC will play an important role in increasing brand recognition, navigating the defence market and providing upskilling opportunities for Indigenous businesses, which interlocks into DTC’s Australian Made Defence campaign.

“The Consortium has a national footprint with over 50 Indigenous businesses represented, 6 from South Australia, and the number is growing”, Goodes says.

“We offer diverse products and services across a number of different areas, and are setting ourselves up to grow with industry needs over the next few years. We are excited by the opportunities ahead”.

The IDC have also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of South Australia.
